Title : Quality Assurance Technician
Reports To: Quality Assurance Team Leader
Substitution : Quality Assurance Technician
Overall Focus : Responsibilities include gathering samples, measuring, documenting analytical data. Adhere to correct procedures and safety guidelines.
FLSA Designation : Hourly Non-Exempt
Understand and follow all work instructions
Perform evaluations and record accurate data on product's, including; but not limited to:
Smell, and
Communicate clearly - verbally or in writing
Practice ethical standards of integrity and honesty
Gather and record accurate information (i.e. CCP, extruder temperatures, etc.)
Comply with policies, procedures, and record-keeping necessary to meet standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies
Operate scales, calipers, computer and copier
Available for on-call rotation
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.
Assure the QA and Sanitation techs follow required work safety practices. This includes wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.
Report any food safety, quality or safety related issues to management immediately.
Other duties as required, to meet business needs.

Education: High School Diploma/GED, Highly Preferred
Experience: 2 years Quality Assurance experience in food / pet food manufacturing environments, Preferred

Understand plant production systems, FSMA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, SQF sanitation, plant safety, quality systems and regulations
Demonstrated application of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP's) and knowledge of GMPs
Understand HACCP, Quality Systems, Food Safety, and QA
Must be able to read and write proficiently in the English language and have excellent verbal and written communication / presentation skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Necessary to perform essential functions of job with or without an accommodation)
Move ingredients and finished product, climb stairs, sit, stand, walk, reach overhead, bend to the floor and stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to climb ladders and work effectively at heights (ability to climb & work 5 stories high)
Be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
Ability to work outside in all types of weather
Able to walk / stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time
Able to work in congested spaces
Potential to work long and / or irregular hours (weekends and holidays included)
Ability to work in a potentially physically strenuous environment
Combination of Plant and Outside Dock environment
Exposure to elements such as odor, noise, heat, cold, dust & chemicals
Ability to work in an environment with high levels of grain dust

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
